. How to Adopt a Pet

Tennessee Law requires that all pets must be spayed or nuetered before they can be adopted. Most of our animals are already spayed or nuetered before ever becoming availiable for adoption. However if you find an animal you'd like to adopt and they are not spayed or nuetered yet then we can provide a voucher that is good at any of the local vets.

Guidelines

  • Cats are almost always placed as indoor pets.
  • Dogs must be kept inside or in a fenced yard.
  • No chains or runlines are accepted.
  • Renters must have approval from their landlords.
  • JMCHS reserves the right to deny any adoptions.
  • JMCHS reserves the right to complete home checks at random prior to and/or after the adoption.
  • Minimum age for adoptees is 18 years of age.
